What Do You Like To Do At School?

And Zachary's response is "play!" He is even signing play now and again. He just loves school and who wouldn't with all the fun stuff he gets to do. Once a week he has one-on-one time with a teacher. His favorite is with Ms Pattie who works on gross motor skills. Zachary is truly all boy as he loves the jumping, swinging, and going down slides. These pictures are of his most favorite activity of all.

His other teacher, Ms Diana, helps with the fine motor skills. This isn't one of his strong areas, probably because he doesn't find it as fun.

I was very excited when both of his teachers asked why he was coming to this school. You may think this is a strange question and a strange response. But this school is an Early Start program and was recommended to me when he was diagnosed with Autism in October. He is scheduled to go through more evaluations in July to see if he qualifies for services through the school district. Both teachers said they thought he wouldn't qualify since he is doing so great. I don't know if not qualifying is good or bad. If he doesn't qualify then between his 3 and 4 years he wouldn't be able to go to nursery school through the school district. What ever the out come, I am ecstatic to hear that he is doing so well. His speech has improved so much in the past 7 months, it is amazing. He is a chatterbox now!
